The Board of the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr.Jasmin Nario-Galace as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Board Chair Bandana Rana notes that appointing Dr. Nario-Galace reflects GNWP’s continued commitment to strengthening feminist leadership, advancing the Women, Peace and Security and Youth Peace and Security agendas, and supporting locally led, sustainable peacebuilding worldwide.

Dr. Nario-Galace is a globally recognized peacebuilder, educator, and advocate for women’s leadership in peace and security. She brings more than three decades of experience in peace education, gender equality, gender and disarmament, conflict resolution, and the advancement of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda across local, national, and international levels.

Prior to her appointment as CEO, Dr. Nario-Galace served as Interim CEO and Senior Program Director of GNWP, where she led strategic initiatives supporting the localization of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. She has played a central role in strengthening the capacities of grassroots women leaders, expanding GNWP’s global partnerships, and advancing inclusive peacebuilding in conflict-affected contexts, including the Philippines, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, and beyond.

In the Philippines, she played a pioneering role in leading the development and adoption of the first National Action Plan (NAP) on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and 1820, strengthening the country’s institutional commitment to women’s participation in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and post-conflict recovery.

She has also held key leadership positions in academia and civil society, including serving as Vice President for Academic Affairs of Miriam College and Executive Director and Associate Director of its Center for Peace Education for over two decades. She previously served as President of Pax Christi-Pilipinas and has contributed to numerous national and international peace and disarmament initiatives, including work with the United Nations, International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA), the Control Arms Coalition, and the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund.

Dr. Nario-Galace is an internationally respected voice in peacebuilding, having contributed to global advocacy on the Arms Trade Treaty, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and gender-responsive approaches to disarmament and conflict prevention. She has served on multiple international advisory bodies and boards, including Pax Christi International, IANSA, IANSA Women’s Network, and the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund.

She is also a prolific author with extensive publications on peace education, gender equality, disarmament, and conflict resolution.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Nario-Galace as our CEO and look forward to this next chapter in GNWP’s mission for inclusive, just, and sustainable peace.
